These one year programs would be holistic in nature and would consist of both practical and theoretical sessions. The classroom sessions would consist of theoretical lessons on the above mentioned subjects and the practical classes would have a hospital-like setup.

These one year programs do not offer graduate certificates to the students upon completion of the course. The passed out students are usually awarded a certificate of completion. However, when it comes to the job market, there is not much of a difference and people with the one-year certificate and students with the graduate certificates have the same employment opportunities. There could be slight variations in the remuneration derived by the candidates though.

Students who finish the training program to become an lpn are usually awarded the diploma and not any certificate or degree. Not all the states in America have hospitals offering these programs. Only few states in America provide these programs. And most of the hospitals hire these students for their facility after the completion of the program.

Before enrolling into these LPN programs in hospitals, a student would undergo thorough background checks which would include drug tests and criminal history checks. Once the student gets hired by the hospitals, he would be working as a trainee for the first year.

Working After Licensed Practical Nurse Programs

The student nurse would usually be assigned a registered nurse during the training period. In some of the states, the student can start working after the completion of the lpn program even before he clears the state exam. However, the student nurses would not be working independently before clearing their exam. They would be under an experienced nurse’s supervision till he clears the exam and obtains the license.

Many people have the desire to undergo formal education in nursing but due to work constraints and other restrictions, they are not able to devote as much time as they would have to for a full-time program.
